Son who beat stranger to death after finding him in bed with his MUM is jailed

Sean Mahan
A son has been jailed after launching a furious attack on a stranger he found in bed with his mum.
Sean Mahan, 21, flew into a frenzy when he came home to find 33-year-old Stewart McKellar naked in the bedroom of his married mum.
His dad was working away at the time of attack, in which Mahan viciously battered Mr McKellar and slapped his mum Lavina, 50, round the face – calling her a “slut”.
He then called a friend, saying: “This guy was sleeping with my mum. I think I’ve killed him.”
Mahan, from Balloch, West Dumbartonshire, Scotland, pleaded guilty to culpable homicide at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to four years and eight months behind bars.
Sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lord Turnbull told him the assault was a “gross over reaction” to the situation.
He said: “You engaged in a sustained violent attack in which you repeatedly punched a man who did nothing but try to protect himself.
“You have left the victim’s family in a state of grief and despair and there is nothing that I can do that will alleviate these circumstances.
“This was a sustained and uncalled for act of violence.”
